It can be tricky to wean your baby from breast milk, but it is a necessary process that needs to be looked at with importance. Knowing what to give your newly weaned baby is also slightly difficult to remember, so here we have a list of the foods that you can give to your baby, once he/she is ready to start having solid foods.
Grains
There are three grains in particular that you can feed your baby when the time comes for him/her to wean off of breast milk.
- Barley
- Oats
- Rice
Barley may not be something that every child might like, so it is perfectly fine to stick to oats and rice too.
Dairy
Dairy can be a tricky affair when it comes to weaning, so the safest and the best option for your baby would be to use yoghurt instead of milk or something on the same lines. You can also improvise and add your baby’s favourite fruit puree to the yoghurt to convert it into a wonderful breakfast.
Vegetables
There are plenty of vegetables that you can start feeding your baby, but what you need to remember is that they also need to be soft. Soft vegetables, cooked and served in cubes or in the shape of chips is something that might make your baby want to eat the vegetables.
- Green beans
- Peas
- Parsnips
- Sweet potato
- Pumpkin/squash
Fruits
Like vegetables, fruits too are very healthy for your baby and an ideal way to wean him/her. There are plenty of fruits that your baby can have during this stage:
- Bananas
- Apples
- Peach
- Mango
- Pears
- Apricot
- Plums
If you find that your baby is trying to push his/her food piece from the mouth, then don’t worry, this happens in the first few tries. In the end, your child will also come to peace with the fact that this is what food is going to be like for him/her.
