How to transform the baby's room into a toddler's room

Your bundle of joy, your snuggly baby grows fast and you will be astounded to see him transitioning into a full-blown yet a dependent toddler on the road to mastering the art of talking, walking and running. His nursery also needs to be transitioned into a toddler’s room so that the little baby gets the freedom to sleep in a larger bed instead of the crib and the floor space is more for him to run and walk without tripping. Toddlers are fearless and require more space to be reckless so you will need to provide them with a secure and safe place in order to be stress-free. Here are a few steps on how to transform the baby’s room into a toddler’s room: Step 1: Bed: A toddler can no longer sleep in a crib as he might try to climb out of the crib at night. However, you need to make sure that the child is ready for bed. Every child is different, so you will have to secure the bed with pillows or toddler bars in order to avoid the fall. This will also make the bed cozy and safe for the child. As the baby grows up into a toddler, he will need a bed to sleep in a crib will no longer work for him. You need to make sure that the measurements of the bed are according to your growing child and the bed does not take up the entire space in the room. Do not keep the crib in the same room after you have placed the bed as space will be occupied. Store the crib for future use, if you have plans for another baby or sell it online. The crib can also be passed on to your relatives who are expecting a baby soon. Step 2: Rearrange the furniture: The room for the toddler needs to be more kid-friendly and the furniture should be rearranged to make more room for the toddler to move about. The changing table in the room can be converted into a shelf for books or toys and you can move out the small toys like rattles and baby gym to make space for ABC mats and other floor games. Get rid of the rocking chair if you have one and replace the diaper pail with a basket for toys. Remove any type of bouncy seats or swings from the nursery and replace it with a child size chair. Step 3: Buy new bedding: When you are changing the bed, you will need to change the mattress, pillows and bed sheets too, so you must buy bedding in neutral colors that go with the colors in the room and then you can decorate it with colorful toys and pillows as per the toddler room. Toddler changes his/her interest very soon, at one time he will go for the cars theme or with fairytale theme, so you will not have to change the bedding if you purchase neutral color bed sheets and decorate them with pillows according to the theme of new interest. Step 4: Update the toys: Baby toys are no more of use to the toddler, so you need to pack them up and move in storage and replace them with toddler toys like stuffed animals, trains or dinosaurs. While boys are in love with cars, buses, and bikes, girls love Disney princesses, so try to incorporate the theme in the toys. Baby tethers and rattles need to be moved out to make way for doll houses or car tracks. Step 5: Be creative with walls: Paint the blue or pink baby room into a brand new color and hang up the latest eye-catching wall decals. You can also place framed artwork made by the child on the walls or use your creativity to make the place look amazing according to the child’s new interest. Step 6: Place clothing on the lower shelves: Your little one is learning to dress himself/herself so they will like to pull together their own clothes. For this, the clothing should be within the reach of the toddler so place them on lower shelves or drawers so that they can easily be accessed by the child. Transforming a baby’s room into a toddler’s is not rocket science as a little professional help by painters or carpenter can help you turn the room into a haven for the toddler. You can also make use of your own creativity to achieve amazing results. I have transformed my baby boy’s room into a car themed space that looks amazing and he loves to play and sleep in the magnificent room. I hired a carpenter to transform the crib into a bed and painted a car on the headboard for a wonderful look. Use your imagination to get the desired results and watch your toddler enjoy the space that he owns.
