A Guide to your baby's skincare

We know you want to take the best possible care of your child and all we want to do is help you and guide you in that very direction. Isn't it a wonderful feeling to know that you are raising a healthy and happy baby? Well, your little one's skin also plays a vital role in making sure that you have a healthy baby on your hands. So by just going through a few of the pointers we have listed out, you can easily ensure that your little one's skin stays in perfect condition all through!

Less is More

As soft and fragile a small baby is, so is their delicate skin. Your baby’s skin care is equally important as is feeding and burping. Since they have sensitive skin and weak immune system they are more likely to get skin allergies. Remember the best skin care you can give your baby is to keep it simple and less.

Skin care basics for your baby

Whether it is bathing, changing diapers, massaging or sunbathing your little one, this is the time you can form a special attachment with your child and at the same time protect their delicate skin. Through your everyday love and care the special bond with your baby will grow and blossom. Here are some simple and easy-to-follow skincare basics to nourish and soothe your baby’s skin.

Bathing

Even though small babies do not get dirty but bathing them with lukewarm plain water is very calming for them. As their skin is very delicate shampoo should be avoided for first couple of weeks. It is advisable to wipe the baby with soft towels or soft baby wipes without rubbing their gentle skin. Soap is generally not recommended for first year as it is stickier and tend to close the pores of skin.

Powdering

Research says the small particles of baby powder can be easily inhaled by babies which may cause breathing troubles and hence should be avoided. Instead for any skin rash or infection medically prescribed creams can be used.

Diapers

Easy to use pant style diapers helps keep the babies dry and clean for longer hours. But remember to remove and change the diaper as soon as the baby dirties it or moistens it. Both urine and stool being acidic in nature, even when it comes in contact for a short while has potential to cause rash.

Moisturize the dry skin

Every baby tends to develop dry flaky skin. It is normal. You can gently massage them with coconut oil before giving them bath and apply a mild baby cream post shower.

Washing

It is preferable to wash the new clothes, blanket and bedsheets of your baby. Be careful to use mild detergents and softeners that are chemical free. Any strong products using chemicals, fragrances and dyes can cause skin irritation, rashes, dryness, and allergy to the soft and delicate skin of your little one. Your love, care and affection is what your baby needs the most. Pretty simple pointers, aren't they? These are mainly the only basic information you need to keep in mind when dealing with your child's sensitive skin and to ensure that growing up, your little one has the least number of encounters with any sort of skin issues.
