Natural Remedies for Dry Skin during pregnancy

Summary

Congratulations! If you’ve just confirmed your pregnancy, you’re probably thinking about how to tell friends and family the exciting news. Whether you’re a first-time mom or you’re adding a new sibling to your little ones’ lives, sharing this news can be a fun way to spread the joy. Here are some ideas for making your pregnancy announcement special and memorable.

Apart from the many changes that a woman goes through during the various stages of pregnancy, her skin also undergoes a change. From the stretch marks formation on the belly portion and increased oil secretions that lead to various breakouts, the changes are intense and can get quite irritating if truth be told. However, another side of this is that the chances of your skin becoming dry and flaky are also high. There are, however, many home remedies that you can apply to ensure that your skin stays supple and soft all through the pregnancy with the least bit of effort.

So Let's look at these home remedies

Hit the Pantry

You might not know this but you could very well be sitting on the best kind of moisturizer that you can get your hands-on courtesy your pantry. What we mean is that many of the things that you buy from that grocery store of yours could double as an amazing moisturizer! The most common ingredients such as that olive or even coconut oil make for some of the best natural moisturizers on the planet. A few drops should do the trick and if you are afraid of making your skin greasy, then applying the oils on damp skin will work perfectly.

Milk Products

When we talk about milk products, we are specifically targeting yoghurt and milk! You see, yoghurt happens to be full of lactic acid and protein which are brilliantly effective in detoxifying and hydrating the skin wonderfully. Apart from this, they also make for brilliant exfoliants and help remove dead skin cells whilst tightening the pores of your skin to make your skin appear more youthful. Massaging plain yoghurt onto the skin and leaving it be for 3 to 5 minutes and then rinsing it off with warm water should essentially do the trick. Remember how legends state that Cleopatra, the last pharaoh of Ancient Egypt, used to bathe in milk? Well, that was within good reason! Milk, like yogurt, too contains lactic acid which is helpful in removing dead cells from the skin making it appear and feel hydrated. Pour a mixture of 2 cups of milk powder, a ½ cup of cornflour and a ½ cup of baking soda to feel and look like the true queen that you are, post your amazingly luxurious milk bath.

Spend less time in the shower

We are sure that you know for a fact that if you take too long bathing in hot water, by the end of it you do notice that your skin feels dryer and patchier. You see too much time in the shower ends up stripping the skin off all the essential oils that protect it from drying! So, limiting that shower time could very well prevent this! Taking care of oneself during pregnancy is very important because the healthier and happier you are, so will your baby be!
