However, a lot of new mothers tend to suffer from nutrient deficiencies post their little one’s delivery. Here are some of the most common nutrient deficiencies that a new mother can suffer from.

Zinc

Post the delivery of your child, it goes without saying that the breastfeeding stage arrives. During nursing, mothers are always in need of increased zinc supply. Keeping this in mind, one should alter their diet so that they are able to fit in zinc rich foods in it.

From poultry, fish and beans to nuts, eggs and lean meats, including these foods in particular in your diet can make sure that you are able to meet your required zinc level.

Vitamin D3

The hard thing about consuming vitamin D3 is that it is rarely found in naturally occurring food sources. Consult your doctor to know what should be the minimum amount of Vitamin D3 that you should be consuming to make sure you and your baby stay healthy.

Taking D3 supplements might be an option as this will also increase the amount of Vitamin D present in the breast milk, thus satisfying your baby’s need for it as well.

Omega-3

Omega-3 happens to be one of the most useful and healthy nutrients that you and your baby can think of consuming. It has been proven that Omega-3 helps brilliantly in the development of your baby’s brain, nervous system, eyes and even immunity much be health

Apart from this, the nutrient also helps to ensure that your child’s learning abilities and focus levels are optimal. Since omega-3 is majorly present in fish, consuming fish which are safe from being contaminated by high levels of mercury or other elements are your best option. However, in case you are still sceptical, talk to your doctor about supplementation.

Post your delivery, it is always better to go for regular health check-ups and blood tests so as to ensure that you are not suffering from any nutrient deficiencies, and if you are, then talk to your doctor about how you can meet your daily nutritional requirements in the right way.
